Privacy Policy

Handy Units

Handy Units is a unit converter. It needs no account and never asks for your name, phone number or email.

1. What we collect

After you agree to this policy, the app uses the Umeng+ analytics SDK to collect anonymous usage statistics, so we can see how the app is used and improve it:

  • Device information: device model, OS version, app version, device identifiers (IDFV and OpenUDID, which Umeng keeps in a private app pasteboard), screen size, carrier, network type, and IP address (used to estimate the region).
  • Usage: launches and session length, and events such as the category and unit of a conversion, switching categories, copying, sharing, editing favorites and whether the tip prompt was shown. The numbers you type are never uploaded.

We don't read your precise location, contacts, photos, or anything you copy to the clipboard.

2. Third-party SDK

  • SDK: Umeng+ U-App analytics (UMCommon, UMDevice)
  • Provider: Umeng Tongxin (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd.
  • Purpose: usage statistics
  • Data: see "Device information" and "Usage" above
  • Umeng+ privacy policy: https://www.umeng.com/policy

3. Kept only on your device

Your settings, favorite categories, the values you type and your conversion count stay on this device (and in its widgets). They are not uploaded.

4. Exchange rates

To show exchange rates, the app downloads a public rate table from our rate service or from ExchangeRate-API / Frankfurter. These requests contain no personal data.

5. Custom conversions and the rule library

The conversions you create stay on this device (and in its widgets); we never receive them. To show the rule library, the app downloads the list of published rules from our server. That request contains only the app language, platform and app version, with no device ID. Rules you add are copied to your device. If you describe a conversion you need with “Tell us what you need”, it is sent to us as feedback (see 7).

6. Tips

Tips are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

7. Feedback and notifications

When you send feedback from Settings, we store what you write, the contact details you choose to give, the app version, system version, device model and language on our server (Tencent CloudBase). The app creates a random device ID, not linked to you, so that only this phone can read the replies. If you allow notifications, we also store this phone's push token to tell you about a reply. We use all of this only to answer your feedback; email the developer to have it deleted.

8. Your choices

  • The anonymous statistics are part of using the app and can't be turned off separately. If you don't agree to this policy, the app can't be used.
  • To withdraw your consent, delete the app; nothing is reported after that.
  • To ask about or delete reported data, email the developer at aquilawang0625@gmail.com.

If this policy changes materially, the app will ask for your consent again.

This website

This website uses 51.LA to count visits and to see which buttons and features get used (for example “download button pressed”). 51.LA sets a cookie in your browser to tell visitors apart and records your rough region, device and where you came from; none of this includes what you type into the converter, or your name, phone number or other personal details. The categories and pinned units the converter remembers stay in your browser.
